Alright so today we’re featuring a new artist on the rise, Dakota Green. His brand new EP, Love Is Taking Over came out on May 10th, and we’re giving you a look into it. Dakota is a great guy who’s making some great music, and is sure to be a big name in the CCM community.
The EP opens up with his most popular song right now, and his current single, All I Wanna Know. This song is my personal favorite, and is sure to be a big hit. The song is greatly written and Dakota does an excellent job on vocals. In this track, Dakota asks God to take complete control of him because He is “the only real thing in this world that I have ever found.” An overall amazing song which you can actually get for free from New Release Tuesday until June 6th. Definitely worth getting!
Next up we have the track It’s You in which Dakota sings about how empty our lives would be without God. declaring “It’s You, it’s You. You’re the only one that I will always run to. It’s You, it’s You. Life is not worth living if I don’t have You.” This song has a slow buildup which I think works great with this song. My favorite part of the song is the bridge in which says “When I’m with You, I feel right at home. There’s no greater love that I could find.”
Next up we have the title track Love Is Taking Over. This is an amazing song with a unique style which I hope to continue hearing on Dakota’s future records. The lyrics don’t disappoint and continue with a strong message, in this song of God’s love taking over when we’re going through the dark parts of our life.
Lastly, we have the song Let It Go. This is a powerful song which makes a great ending track for Green’s EP. Dakota wows again with his vocals which flow greatly with the music. As per usual, the lyrics are moving as well. Letting go of our pride – realizing that “you need to know you need Him in your life.” Humbling ourselves before God and continuing with the theme that the album has set of recognizing just who God is, and giving Him complete control and devotion.
An amazing album overall, and I would have to give it 4 and a half stars out of five. I am looking forward to hearing more from Dakota and his great music. A very solid debut from a sure to be rising star in the CCM community. Definitely keep an out for him!
